Mocha's 2009 Colt, Tripp
I was so excited to get the call that Mocha foaled a BEAUTIFUL Champagne Colt on April 6, 2009! Tripp, as we are calling him, is sweet and so trusting, already picks up feet and lets me pick them with no fight at all, leads, sprayed with a water bottle, booty scrubbed of all the "foal heat" mess, and no problems at all.
This colt is sired by Genuine Dun It, just as all my foals this year! We are checking, but I believe this is Genuine's first champagne foal!
** Tripp has tested, E/E, A/A, N/Cr, N/Ch ... what does this mean? GREAT question, UC Davis calls him an
AMBER CREAM CHAMPAGNE. The discription says that Tripp cannot sire any red foals regardless of the mare's color. He is heterozygous, dilute, one copy of Cream gene. He has one copy of the altered sequence, champagne. So if we decide that Tripp grows up to be of Stallion quality, he will have the added benefit of throwing color along with his fabulous disposition!
After a little research with a color calculator, if Tripp were bred to a Sorrel/Chestnut or Bay mare they would produce:
25% Buckskin
25% Bay
25% Amber Cream
25% Amber Champagne
So as you can see, 75% chance of color! I have other percentages if you are interested, just email me.
